Guard Gated and Gated Communities
There are many gated communities in the Las Vegas Valley. Master-planned communities usually have at least one guard-gated and several gated communities within them. Golf course communities are usually guard-gated. Active adult 55+ communities are a mixture of guard-gated, gated and open access. Condominiums and townhouses are about 20% guard-gated, 70% gated and 10% are full access.

Guard Gated Communities are not common but there are quite a few. Some are stricter than others but most are very good. The best thing about having guards is that they also patrol the neighborhoods. If you want a more secure lifestyle, guard gated communities may be a good fit.

Gated communities are very popular in the Las Vegas Valley. Living in a gated community adds prestige to a home and about $100 a month to your Homeowners Association bill. Besides a gate, there will be a wireless entry system where visitors will enter your code, and the system calls you for access.
Gated access is not a guaranteed security feature; however, it is a deterrent. Having lived in a few communities with gates, I can say that the biggest problem is when someone tries to force a gate open. Most communities have service contracts that will repair the gates, but you may have to wait a day or two.
